A man identified as Friday Pius was killed, while his pregnant wife and her sister were abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers at Uloke community, Uzairue, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
According to information gathered, the assailants invaded the victim’s residence between 1:00 am and 2:00 am while the family was asleep. They shot Pius dead and abducted the two women. They left behind the deceased’s three children, who were found crying beside their father’s body soaked in blood.
Security forces, local vigilantes and hunters, have launched a bush-combing operation to rescue the victims.
The unfortunate incident have triggered a protest as women in the Uloke community took to the streets, to express their anger over the killing of Friday Pius and the abduction of his family members.
Also, the Edo State Police Command’s spokesperson, CSP Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident. He said security operatives are actively working to locate the kidnappers and rescue the abducted women.
